What’s on in April…

Book activities/ meals/ get zoom links via admin@bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk, or by texting/ calling 07706674108.  Most of these activities are free but we accept donations from those able.
 
The Bike Workshop operates by appointment for sales, repairs and other maintenance. You should book via 07591 882 779 or by emailing ActiveTravel@bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk. This will ensure someone is there to accept your bike as the workshop is staffed on a part-time basis.
 
CAFE OPENING HOURS – THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY 11-4
The Pakora Pick-Ups on Saturdays and ‘farmer’s’ market elements will continue alongside a limited menu. The rest of the menu includes soup, paninis, baked potatoes and the usual variety of barista drinks
We would advise checking here before travelling in case of any changes.
 
Community Lunch: Tuesday 12-1pm
We are now able to accommodate new joiners to these meals; pop in for company and a home cooked meal. Booking is preferred, especially if you have any dietary requirements, to admin@bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk / 07706674108. Note that it is a set menu which varies each week depending on ingredients available. Donations are appreciated.

Forest Friday by Wanderwomen
15th April 2022 : Subsidised [£15]– book via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/309707301877. Enjoy a Friday morning amongst the trees in the woodland near Bridgend Farmhouse, take some time out for yourself after a busy week, connect with nature, like-hearted women, breathe deeply and reflect on what it is that moves you!

EASTER EVENTS
Easter Holiday activities including Samba Drumming, Arts and Crafts and soap making, plus 18th April - Easter Monday we will have a whole day of activities for your wee ones

Easter Monday / Soap Making - Activities are now fully booked.

Samba drumming – 12th April – All ages from 5+ welcome to this fun drumming workshop 2pm - 4pm - £2 per person but just a few spaces left, book fast to secure yours. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/297986645077

Trees and Seas Arts and Crafts - £3 per session - 7 - 11years
Parent aren’t required to stay unless the child has additional support needs and requires extra support to attend.  – 2 dates available -
Thursday 21st April 11-1pm Natural Art and Crafts which include, clay work, woodwork using small hand tools and create your own story stones.
Friday 22nd April Celebrating Earth day with seed planting, insect hotels and scavenger hunt.

ADVOCARD
The service’s next drop in is 13th April, these continue on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, 2:30-4:30pm. They offer advocacy, in particular for people with mental health/substance abuse issues.
 
OUTDOOR VOLUNTEERING / ACTIVITY SESSIONS [aimed at adults]
 
THE BIG SUNDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS!
The Wednesday and Sunday volunteers’ activity sessions are back, outdoors only, from 11am - 3pm weekly. Expect a list of productive but social outdoor action – from gardening, to site clearance, to building sheds, walls and paths and everything in-between! There will also be a supervised, coached, woodwork offering – for which booking is required due to limited capacity in the workshop. A simple lunch will be provided for volunteers.
Booking is requested for your first week so the facilitator can plan to meet, greet and relay paperwork, but attendance is on the same, as able, basis.
 
CONTINUING PARTICIPATION ACTIVITIES
 
SINGING ON TUESDAYS: 5.00 - 6.00 pm: Singing Workshop with Darla [arrive from 4:45pm to start promptly]. All weeks are hosted onsite [in the marquee] with attendees participating via zoom still welcome to join in.
 
ARTS AND CRAFTS WEDNESDAYS: 2.00 - 4.30pm: in person.
Suitable for all levels of experience. This group meets indoors – thus please book with admin/ the tutor, Gill, so we know how many to expect. Sewing based at present, working on contributions to the Craigmillar Tapestry.
 
CRAFT COLLECTIVE THURSDAYS: 6:30-8:00pm: jointly, in person & on zoom.
‘Bring Your Own Project” sessions. Booking required for in person – go through the tutor once you’re ‘in the system’. Zoom link available via admin.
 
WALKING GROUP: This meets for short (about 1 hour), local walks at a relaxed, chatty pace on Wednesdays from 10am, starting at the Farmhouse, led by trained Health Walk leaders. Booking is preferred for new starts.
 
TAI CHI: This is offered in the Marquee / indoors on Wednesdays 11:30-12:30 led by Margaret Hendry, a qualified practitioner. Booking is essential as slots are limited. Sessions are currently free, donations are appreciated.
 
Creative writing Wednesdays: 3.30pm - 4.30pm   Donation only
Come and have a cake, cup of tea and create your own poetry diary for 2022! Creative, fun and relaxing sessions. Bring your paper/ pens/ laptop!
 
CYCLING CENTRED ACTVITIES *NEW DATES*
 
Bike Maintenance classes will be offered weekly from 22nd April, 10-noon as before. We are able to double up on tutors so the possible class size is 6. We suggest a donation of £5 which can be paid in advance (on request).
 
Balance Bike Classes also restart on the 22nd April, 2 classes will run most weeks – 2-3pm and 3-4pm with a maximum of 4 per class. These are aimed at children under 6. Balance bikes can be provided.
 
Guided rides leaving from Bridgend Farmhouse will run weekly, 2pm -4pm, from 22nd April. There will be the option to hire an e-bike for the session [and to come 30 minutes early for familiarisation [1:30-1:50pm]] at £5. Booking is essential via the admin details. Pedal Bikes and helmets can be borrowed free of charge. Places are limited to 8 max.

As an alternative for those who feel a bit more adventurous we will now be offering ‘Try Mountain Biking Sessions’ on Fridays, from 2-4pm. All equipment can be provided [bikes, helmets].
 
New Adult Learn to Ride Classes start on Thursday 5th May. Bikes / Helmets etc can be borrowed if you don’t have your own, and classes are small [3]. The first 3 sessions run 1-2pm, sessions from 26th May run 9:30-10:30am
 
For most of these we invite you to book as many as you like / need – via admin@bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk or 07706674108  but please do cancel as early as known if you are unable to attend so we may fill spaces if possible.
 
OTHER ACTIVITIES

YOUTH DISCUSSION CLUB
Starts on 6th April for a 4 week block,  Wednesdays 5 - ~7pm
This is the space for people 14-18 years old to speak about topics that matter to them. We’ve planned a few initial discussion points to get us going but we'd love you to bring topics and ideas to be discussed in the group!
Ultimately, this is going to become a weekly space for skills development and learning for young people. If you'd like to come to any of the sessions email: marta.brzosko@bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk
 
MENTAL HEALTH PEER SUPPORT GROUP
This aims to help members of our community support each other. It isn't a substitute for therapy or medical help, but can be a good place to share your feelings and find some relief in knowing that you're not alone.
This will transition to a drop in style session whilst the ‘Living Life to the Full’ Course operates with chaplain in training, Lea, available in the café on Thursdays from 1:30-3:30pm at Bridgend Farmhouse. She is happy to act as a listening ear or just to provide company.
