The Bike Workshop continues to be open by appointment for emergency bike repairs and other maintenance. You can book via 07591882779 or by emailing ActiveTravel@bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk. This will ensure someone is available to accept your bike as the bike shed operates part-time hours.
HALLOWE’EN PARTY in conjunction with One Parent Family Scotland.
Saturday 30th October, 3.30pm-6.30pm. Tickets £2.50 per person. There will be music [and karaoke], food, a quiz, a bonfire, and a fire display. Tickets will be available through Eventbrite, with a limited number available on the day.
Bridgend Farmhouse 2021 AGM
Will be held onsite, and on zoom, on Sunday 28th November from 3-5pm.
Teas and coffees will be available, and we hope there will be a few side attractions such as showings of our various short films, and storytelling sessions for any children.
Culture and craft activities [aimed at adults]
SINGING ON TUESDAYS: 5.00 - 6.00 pm: Singing Workshop with Darla.
Alternate weeks are now being hosted onsite with attendees participating via zoom still welcome to join in. Booking for all onsite sessions is required – via Darla or Admin as above.
ARTS AND CRAFTS WEDNESDAYS: 2.00 - 3.30pm:
Suitable for all levels of experience. The group is currently focusing on sewing and embroidery and we will be creating small individual pieces inspired by children’s drawings. They are held under the Marquee canvas– please book so we know how many to expect.
CRAFT COLLECTIVE THURSDAYS: 6:30-8:00pm
Jointly, in person and on zoom.
‘Bring Your Own Project” sessions, bring what you’re working on for hints, tips and encouragement. This can be anything - knit, sketch, sew, crochet, whatever you like - just craft and chat. Art experience is not necessary. Booking required for now- which may be relayed through the tutor once you are ‘in the system’. Contact admin as above for the zoom link.
Outdoor volunteering / activity sessions [aimed at adults]
THE BIG SUNDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS!
We have restarted our Wednesday activity sessions on a bookable basis in addition to the Sunday sessions. These are outdoor only sessions from 11am - 3pm weekly. Expect a list of productive but social outdoor action – from gardening, to site clearance, to building sheds, walls and paths and everything in-between! Suitable for beginners and old hands alike- our facilitator/ lead volunteers will keep you on the right track and at a comfortable pace for your abilities. Any children brought remain your responsibility- please supervise them appropriately.
Booking is required for the time being, certainly for your first week so the facilitator can plan to meet and greet but attendance is on the same, as able, basis.

The next ‘Pay What You Feel’ meals are an international meal on Monday 1st November and a Surplus Supper on Tuesday 9th November. We plan to be in the marquee, which will be heated, but bring a big coat or a blanket to be cosy and warm!
The Pakora Pick-Ups continue Saturdays 11-2. We also hope to run a regular ‘farmer’s type’ market alongside this, for you – selling honey, home-made chutneys and jams, and milk and eggs from local organic suppliers as well as the drinks and ice cream on sale to date.
The monthly ‘Car Boot’ Sales will resume on Saturday 13th November [and thereafter the 2nd Saturday of the month], with the 11th of December edition being a Christmas Fair. Tables can be reserved via the admin@ address at £10 each [we can provide the table]!
If you missed the Chai Ladies Cooking masterclasses, done in small intimate group sessions where you were taught how to make a selection of Pakistani/ Punjabi dishes then you have another chance.
If you collect a group of ~4 friends they can also do a session of your choice at a date and time to suit all parties, just contact the Chai Ladies, via firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost is £20 per person.
Activities on the move
WOODLAND CONSERVATION SESSIONS
With Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust are continuing weekly, Thursdays, 1.30 - 3.30pm.

This meets for short (about 1 hour), local walks on Wednesday mornings from 10am, starting at the Farmhouse, led by trained Health Walk leaders. Walks are at a gentle, chatty pace! Booking is currently required for new start's who are always welcome.
This will be on offer in the Marquee on Wednesdays 11:30-12:30 lead by Margaret Hendry who is a qualified practitioner and leads sessions at the Thistle. Booking essential as slots are limited to 10 persons. These sessions are currently free, though donations are appreciated.
CYCLING CENTRED ACTIVITIES
Under 6s Balance Bike classes will run until 22nd October. They are currently full but we shall take notes of interest in case of cancellations or for future sessions in the Spring. One adult per family is required to attend. Find out how to have fun as the child progresses from balance to pedal bike. We can loan bikes for these sessions if required.
Our current batch of Bike Maintenance classes [to 22nd October] are now fully booked apart from 8th October! Get in quick to secure a slot!
We are pleased to announce we shall continue to offer slots over the winter period- on the first Friday of each month.
These are run by Phil from ‘A Wee Pedal’ who guides you on mostly flat, traffic free paths for approx 2 hours / 8 miles – All welcome – note children need to be able to ride a bike. Rides leave from Bridgend Farmhouse at 2pm. Bikes and helmets can be borrowed free of charge. Places are limited to 8 max.
Weekly rides, which are aimed particularly at families, mature riders and adult novices continue until 22nd October. After those sessions, rides will continue on the 1st Friday of the Month through to March inclusive, providing weather conditions allow. Booking is essential.
We now have a fleet of bikes for hire!
All are new decathlon bikes; you can choose from our mountain bikes and hybrid bikes: Rates are Hybrid bike £10 hourly/ £30 half day/ £50 full day; Mountain bike £12 hourly/ £36 half day/ £56 full day.
