Community Peace Garden

The Community Peace Garden was created through a collaboration between Bridgend Farmhouse, Peace and Justice Scotland, and Multicultural Family Base. The project began in late 2023 with discussions about its aims and structure, followed by successful fundraising from grants and community donations.

Early in 2024, workshops were held to design the garden, with efforts made to include people of all ages and backgrounds, including Arabic-speaking families. Over the spring and summer, volunteers—many of them New Scots from Ukraine, Sudan, and Syria—helped with landscaping, repairing walls, and planting. The garden officially opened in August 2024, with over 100 people attending the launch to celebrate the hard work and shared achievement.

This project shows how local organisations and community members can work together to create a beautiful space which fosters friendship, understanding and connection. With new funding secured for 2025, the Peace Garden will continue to grow as a space for wider community use.
