History talk - horrid Herod

Most of us know Herod from the Christmas story, but how much of his “horrid'“ reputation is grounded in history, and how much is legend?

Join us for an engaging and insightful evening with Margaret Williams, our hugely popular volunteer speaker who is returning by request. Her talk, “Herod the Great in Legend and History,” will explore the real life and legacy of this fascinating historical figure.

The talk will begin at 6pm following our community meal.

To let us know you’re coming, please email admin@bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk.

There’s no fee: but donations on the night are welcome.

Before retiring, Margaret was a university lecturer specialising in Roman Imperial history, with a particular focus on Jewish communities within the Roman Empire. She has published widely on the subject and brings deep expertise along with her signature accessible, engaging style.

Come along for a lively, informative evening. All are welcome!
