Bridgend Farmhouse Community Allotments
Bridgend Farmhouse Community Allotments is open to volunteers every Tuesday & Friday 10.30am - 3.30pm.
In February 2022, Bridgend Community Allotments was swept into the caring arms of the Bridgend Farmhouse, following the dissolution of the previous charity. This merging of the allotments with the farmhouse was made possible by Acorns2Trees, who provided us with 2 years of funding to open the gardens 2 days per week as well as have a farmhouse gardening session 1 other day per week. We now have funding to stay open for an additional 3 years! Hurrah! Long may the Bridgend Community Allotments keep thriving! This merging has meant that so many more people have been able to benefit from the allotments; learn about food growing; connect with nature and other people; and have access to healthy, homegrown food.
On a normal Tuesday or Friday session, our schedule is as follows:
10.30-1pm - Gardening + Cooking
1-2pm - Lunch break altogether
2-3.30pm - Gardening
We are committed to creating a healthy environment for us to nurture the plants, the soil and each other. Activities include weeding, soil care, sowing seeds, planting out seedlings, watering, harvesting vegetables, helping with food prep, maintenance of structures, woodwork, poly tunnel care, pruning, fruit bush care … there’s something for everyone. Coming to the allotments is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends, becoming part of the Bridgend community and learn lots about gardening, food growing and healthy living. Whether you have experience gardening or not, we would love to welcome you to our team! If it is your first time visiting, please come at 11.30am for a tour.
