Family friendly summer programme at the Farmhouse
Every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon we ran a variety of workshops running from 2-4pm, 3rd of July - 8th of August.
All courses were free, with booking requested to control numbers attending. See Flyers for more details.
Lime mortar pointing, Three individual free courses ran, sponsored by our Place, Work and Folk' project
10am-4pm, on Sun 12, Sat 25 and Sun 26 August
Each course consisted of a classroom session discussing the nature of the materials involved, their production locally and their performance, participants then had plenty of opportunity to re-point, re-build and render sections of the walls where appropriate.
For folk who would like to learn more about this traditional craft, or even put this training to use in other locations this was a great opportunity to get practical training from an expert.
Tutor Tim Le Breuilly says “As part of Bridgend Inspiring Growth's 'Place, Work and Folk' project; I'm really pleased to be able to offer the members of the Bridgend community the opportunity to engage directly with some of the skills used by their predecessors. Using traditional methods and materials, we'll renovate the historic stone wall surrounding the farmhouse.
The exchange of craft and skill is an important aspect of the farmhouse's continued heritage and will leave a tangible result in an appropriately renovated boundary wall.”
