Our Changing City - Weekend of Events, 24th & 25th November
Our community oral history project is collaborating with the Patrick Geddes Centre on a weekend of events which celebrates the success of the two projects as asset transfers. We're inviting other, similar organisations to join us to discuss the challenges that face communities who are seeking asset transfer and asking how culture and heritage can help. Saturday 24th Nov, 10am - 5pm, at the Patrick Geddes Centre Come along and take part in a forum discussion about asset transfer, hosted by Edinburgh Active Citizenship Group. There will be a variety of activities to choose from, such as walking tours and oral history workshops. Meet other organisations and campaigning groups who will be keen to share their stories. Lunch is provided. Sunday 25th Nov, 11am - 4pm, Bridgend Farmhouse & Inch House The activities continue at Bridgend, with hands-on activities including outdoor, practical, arts and oral history - all making the connection to community empowerment and asset transfer. Lunch is provided, and the weekend will conclude with a plenary at Inch House. Growing Stories Event, SUN 28th Oct 2pm-4pm
As part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival we came together to learn to ‘grow’ and share stories of plants, trees and food with children, within a peaceful, historic, plant filled haven in South Edinburgh. With storyteller Tim Porteus, an expert in history, family and community learning, and Heather Henderson a great local storyteller from Craigmillar . With bonfire tales and tasty, locally-grown treats! Led by our Place, Work & Folk Oral History Project in partnership with Bridgend Growing Communities This was followed by our annual Bonfire night from 4-6pm |

For the holidays week commencing 15th Oct we have a few family-friendly drop in activities:
Greater Liberton Heritage Project have very kindly developed an historical timeline for Bridgend dating back to medieval times, taking us right up to our opening celebration in 2018! Come and join Lynne and Gill for some family fun where you can make mosaics which will become part of the final piece. We'll be looking for contributions of pigs, cows and crops. What will your family make? 1pm-4pm, Tuesday 16th October. No unaccompanied children, please. Free family workshop, no need to book. Email [email protected] for more info. Climate week celebration event, Sat 6th October, 12:00-4pm
We are hosting this event as part of the Welcoming a Greener Future project and #ScotClimateWeek. Activities and info around climate change: cycling, gardening, recycling and reusing plus a delicious meal and live music. Note: due to this event our Café that day will not be open to the general public. |
Doors Open Day - Sunday 30th Sept, 12-5pm
All warmly invited to our next glorious event - please share and encourage everyone to come and enjoy our hospitality, tours and guided walks (even to Craigmillar Castle Park) ... with added vintage vibe! We are planning a recreation of what it was like to be a young person around the Bridgend community in the mid 1950s-early 1960s. Stories, photographs, first-person accounts. With vintage board games, arts and crafts, music and food and more, for all ages. Also woodland walk and activities, starting at the farmhouse and finishing in Craigmillar Castle Park, with Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust. |

Sunday June 17th 2018 - BIG Summer Party with the Power of Food Festival, RSPB Bio Blitz & BIG AGM
The Bridgend Farmhouse Summer Party was again celebrated in conjunction with the wonderful Power of Food Festival, and with a programme of exciting activities for all the family - live music, a big lunch, fresh pizzas, face painting, RSPB wildlife Bio-Blitz, Caravan Obscura in Craigmillar woods, and a Colla Castellera (Spanish Human Towers) performance, and more.
BIG AGM- We were pleased to have a large turnout for our AGM with a chance to look back and celebrate the enormous achievements over the past year, as well as electing the trustees for the year ahead, and finalising our next major steps.
