Bothy Burns Supper, 25th Jan 6- 10pm at Augustine United Church, George IV Bridge

Star attractions: Malcolm Fraser, Johnny Stanton & YOU

3 course local organic Burns supper, with open mic bar, poems songs and prose and chances to share performances and take a turn. Places are limited so book in advance.  Tickets and more info: bridgendbothy.bpt.me
This is a ceilidh collective and Bridgend Inspiring Growth co-production with all profits to the Bridgend Bothy Build

Burns Supper at Bridgend Farmhouse, 24th Jan 7:30- 10pm

Menu: Vegetable soup, Haggis, neeps and tatties (with vegetarian option). Cranachan or fruit.
Followed by toasts to The Immortal Memory, to The Lassies and The Reply.
Plus poems and songs and the usual good cheer.  Coffee and soft drinks will be served but bring your own bottle of anything else.

Forest Fridays and Forest Families with Trees and Seas,

All held held within Craigmillar Forest, meeting at Bridgend Farmhouse, and lead by experienced forest and outdoor learning instructors.
Dec 6th 1:30-3:30 Possible activities include den building, natural art and crafts, swings and hammocks, tools and toasting marshmallows and more... for children 5-11 years old 
Dec 14 10-12:30 This is an outdoor family event, activities and may include Forest crafts and skills, cooking, natural arts and crafts , hammocks and dens and more...

Bridgend Winter Warmers Socials, 7-10 pm Oct 25, Nov 29 and Dec 13 

A series of 3 socials to challenge darkening cold dark days, each with a theme, special guests, debate/discussion, open mike and fab food. Free to locals. BYOB.
Witty, fun performers welcome - but stick to the theme.
Themes are:
  • Do Ghosts exist? 
  • What makes us Scottish?
  • An independent Scotland, with or without a monarch?

Weaving with Brambles 20 & 21st Dec 10-5pm

​​You may have picked blackberries, but you can also turn the bramble vines into useful and beautiful baskets all year round! Come learn from Weaving Wild how to see them with new eyes.
Friday (optional) You will spend the day out in the woods gathering brambles and preparing them ready for Saturday.
Saturday will spent in a workshop preparing vines and then making your basket.

Christmas homemade craft fair and market, 14th Dec 10-2pm

Very excited to be hosting a new style craft fair to encourage people to bring artisan, locally made items to sell. We hope to continue this into the New Year with our car boot sales as a combination of the old and the new. Santa will make an appearance at some point too...
Please share and come along with all your goodies to sell.

We anticipate a big uptake for this, so booking a table is essential, only £10.00 a table.

Halloween Surplus Dinner, Mon Oct 28 5-7pm

Did you know that food waste is a very big contributor to the greenhouse effect? (FAO) reports that about 33% of food produced for human consumption is lost or thrown away every year.
Bridgend Farmhouse in conjunction with the Junk Food Project are organising a Halloween bash for you.
​We will be using food that otherwise would be wasted.
Come and help us prepare the dinner and learn a few tips on how to creatively use your leftovers and recognise food that may not look too pretty but is 100% percent OK for consumption.

World Music at Bridgend, Saturday 12th Oct 2-6pm

Come and enjoy music from around the world, from Brazil to India, with wonderful sitar playing, dancing, musical acrobatics and songs that celebrate our Earth.

 There will be performances from Alec Cooper and students from “The Sitar Project.” 

 “Capoeira” who combine Afro-Brazilian martial arts with dance, acrobatics and music.

And Francesco Benvenuti whose travels around Central America have inspired “heartfelt songs that honour the Earth.”

Doors Open Day at the farmhouse, Sunday 29 Sept 11-4pm

We'll be doing tours of the farmhouse, talks on its history and projects, including the current eco-bothy build, plus live music, fresh pizza and our cafe will be open.

Celebrating Community Land Week, Sat 17 Aug 2-6pm

Being community owned, led and run, we are delighted to be part of this week of events and celebrations being held to highlight community ownership.
We are having an Open Mic session, so if anyone wants to come and showcase their talents, get in touch
There will be food, music, activities for children and fun for all.
So come and help us celebrate on the 17th.

Bothy Build Fundraiser, Sunday 28th July 3-11pm
in the Argyle and Cellar Bar, 15-17 Argyle Place, EH9 1JJ


Euan, one of our bothy volunteers, is organising this event to raise funds to buy materials for our bothy build
If enough is raised he would like to allocate a portion to Edinburgh North East Food Bank.
Entry is free, but cash donations and/or items for the food bank such as dry pasta or rice, tinned vegetables or sanitary products. See the Edinburgh North East Food Bank website https://edinburghne.foodbank.org.uk/ for details of any items that are urgently needed.

We are delighted to announce our July programme, which includes:
  • 2 pop up dinners: an international dinner with a Peruvian theme on the 1st of July, and a surplus supper on the 15th July, both are ‘contribute what you can’ and start at 5pm until 7pm, be prompt to ensure a seat and book ahead so we can cater for the right numbers.
  • A community meal every Tuesday starting at 5pm, so come and get your tea.
  • 2 foraging cooking sessions, where our forager will take you out to Craigmillar Park and our chef will show you how to cook the ingredients gathered.
  • 3 family forest skills sessions, heading up to the Park again with a tutor for a couple of fun hours outdoors.
  • 2 led bike rides with a qualified local instructor where you can bring your own bikes, or we can give you one to use.
  • 3 glass workshops for 16+, small workshops for 3 people, each making a fused glass candle holder.
  • 2 sessions for folks to try painting insects on wood, with the Katarina.
  • 2 family permaculture sessions introducing families to the meaning of permaculture.
  • 1 family mosaic workshop run by our in-house expert Lynn.
  • A drop-in pizza session, where we will have our pizza oven fired up for you to make your own and eat.

Come find out what has been happening at Bridgend Farmhouse over the last year and all the great new developments.
Members will vote on the new directors/trustess and vote on key decisions for the organisation.

Sunday 21st April 2-5pm - Bridgend Easter Family Event:
Easter: egg-rolling, Easter egg hunt, egg painting, Easter bonnets, Easter arts and crafts, music workshops, family ceilidh, faces-painting, live music, pizza oven, hot and cold drinks and light snacks.
Saturday 13th April 3-6pm - World Music Afternoon Concert and Pizza:
An afternoon of World Music in the outdoors at Bridgend Farmhouse. Featuring performances of North Indian music from the Sitar Project and West African Drumming from Drumsoc.
There will also be fresh pizzas available from our outdoor pizza oven and drinks. Come and support local musicians and enjoy amazing music from around the world.

Good Food In Our Hands 17th March, 14:00-19:30

A gathering of people who care about having good food for all. Workshops, talks, stalls, films and networking about the grassroots and community action around food, policy, growing, farming, environment and justice in Scotland.

You can read the full programme with details of workshops and talks here.
This is a ticketed event, Tickets available via Eventbrite  18th Feb or you can get them by visiting the farmhouse Mon-Fri 9-5pm.

14:00-14:30 - Short Films - Food Stories
14:30-15:30 - Workshop 1 (3 choices)
16:00-17:00 - Workshop 2 (3 choices)
17:00-19:30 - Meal, Film screening of the Landworker's Alliance film ‘IN OUR HANDS’ and discussion

There will also be an emphasis on The Good Food Nation Bill and we will a create space for people to discuss, learn about and fill in the consultation (the deadline of which is March 29th).
Refreshments and food provided by The Real Junk Food Project Edinburgh and Bridgend Farmhouse.
Pay what you can. All money goes towards supporting sustainable community, land and food projects.
1st Mar - Farmhouse Volunteers' SuperForum, 6-8:30pm

Open to all our many volunteers who make so much of what we do possible.
A chance to meet, talk and eat together, have some fun, and give your ideas and input into how we best use some of the funding we receive...
